“…. people must remain actively involved on juries and keep informed about both local and international politics to ensure that New Zealand’s democracy stays strong”.

-- Governor-General Anand Santyanand

Jeremy Busck
Jeremy is a third generation Whangarei resident, 15 years in Jaycees (Whangarei Chapter President 1975) and helped build Tarewa Park.
Jeremy has always taken a keen interest in local government activities and is also a regular letter writer commenting on councils’ actions.
He is most passionate about saving green space for future  generations and believes what is left of the waterfront is sacrosanct. Recently retired after 30 successful years in business, he is currently building a private 15 acre wetland reserve.
Owen has lived in the district for more than 50 years, has been involved in local affairs for 40 years, a JP for over 30 years and has served as a County and District Councillor for 18 years including a term on the inaugural Whangarei District Council.
Owen opposed proposals for a private Club Med at Mimiwhangata and a PVC plant at Marsden Point.
He has assisted numerous amateur sports and recreation bodies, volunteer libraries and a retirement village and has promoted the sealing of roads throughout the district.
Owen Lewis
A resident of Whangarei district for 10 years, after having been born and schooled in Whangarei, with a commercial background of information systems, teaching and statistics. He shares the concerns expressed by other members of the group.
